We are pleased to announce the newest releases in the KedsWhitney Collection, featuring styles by celebrated artists Laura Owens and Sarah Crowner! The sneakers are available exclusively at select Bloomingdale’s stores nationwide, as well as on bloomingdales.com and keds.com.

Laura’s concept was quite simple; she took a detailed photograph of a canvas weave, enlarged it, and printed the resulting image on the classic Champion. She paired the grey color of the print with darker laces and trim to give it depth.

Sarah approached her design by looking at both left and right shoes together, making an overall composition that changes as the wearer moves. Her focus was to create an image that transforms as one walks.

A portion of Keds’ profits from Laura and Sarah’s shoes will benefit the Whitney Museum of American Art.

Before the final Whitney Live presented by Keds concert, we had the opportunity to chat with performing duo Tanlines.

Tanlines and DJ/Rupture closed out the Whitney Live presented by Keds summer music series last Friday with a bang. The Lower Gallery of the Whitney Museum of American Art was jam-packed with beautiful people, dancing and enjoying this end-of-summer celebration.

If tan lines are evidence of a raging summer, then Tanlines has their namesake down pat. Based out of Brooklyn, this duo’s conceptual beats will make you want to dance in the sun with a beer in hand.

Closing out the Whitney Live presented by Keds summer series, Tanlines will be rocking the stage with DJ/Rupture this Friday, August 27th at the Whitney. Don’t forget, the show is free with Whitney Museum admission, which is pay-as-you-wish on Friday evenings from 6-9 pm.

Published music writer Jace Clayton also goes by the name of DJ/Rupture, and is as skillful manipulating music at the turntables as he is writing about it.

Before the show, we had the opportunity to chat with Brooklyn band Javelin at last Friday’s Whitney Live presented by Keds event.

Javelin and Warpaint rocked out at the Whitney Museum at last Friday‘s Whitney Live presented by Keds. The museum was filled with fans on their feet dancing to Javelin’s old skool electro beats and singing along to Warpaint’s ghetto-techno tunes.

I had the privilege of chatting with both bands before they hit the Whitney Live stage. The ladies of Warpaint shared their thoughts on the music industry’s movement toward a digital sound and how they plan to set themselves apart from other upcoming indie bands. Cousins Tom and George of Javelin spent some time with us before their performance as well, giving us an inside look into their sound and influences.
